Being named an Austin Under 40 Finalist places you among our city’s most impactful young leaders. This year we will celebrate 90 exceptional individuals across 18 categories who are shaping Austin’s future.
While only one person in each category takes home an award, the Finalist Experience itself creates lasting impact and connections that extend far beyond the gala night.
Before the Awards Gala, there are two Signature Events held to honor and connect our Finalists. In recent years, the Signature Events have been a Finalist Happy Hour and Mayor's Coffee.
Finalists Happy Hour
Step into a room buzzing with Austin’s brightest minds. Our Finalist Happy Hour brings together 90 remarkable individuals for an evening of meaningful connections and celebration. In this relaxed setting, you’ll meet peers who are driving innovation and change across industries – from technology and healthcare to civic leadership and the arts.
Mayor’s Coffee
Few experiences match the inspiration of our Mayor’s Coffee gathering. Hosted at the home to Austin Sunshine Camps, Zilker Lodge, this intimate morning event connects finalists with Austin’s Mayor and key community leaders. As you enjoy your coffee with a view of downtown Austin, you’ll hear firsthand about our city’s vision for the future and the role young leaders like you play in shaping it.
The setting itself tells a powerful story: Zilker Lodge serves as the headquarters for Austin Sunshine Camps, the beneficiary organization of the AU40 Awards Gala. Your participation as a finalist directly supports their mission to provide the magic of overnight summer camp without the barrier of cost, and to offer a space where Austin area children have a place to grow, connect, and explore.
